IL | The state is 400+ miles north to south and the soil varies wildly. I farm below the glacier line and I do know drought, as in mow entire fields with a bush hog. I drove to Chicago over the weekend and thay "250 bushel" ground is in trouble. Flat ground with dead spots and height variances as far as the eye can see. 2 fields tasseled on the entire trip, 4th of July it's normally tassels as far as the eye can see. My corn that is normally head high, if not tasseled, isn't even waist high. Weather has been from wet extremes to dry extremes twice in my area east of St.Louis. | |
