North of London | Green wood or seasoned?
If green you will have more trouble
If dry or even just some dry seasoned wood and you have some paper or a little cardboard it will start but put all the paper in one place or feed it in a little at a time until wood takes.
Gas is a way to get yourself burned, it 'explodes' in a spectacular fashion but heat is gone before wood catches.
Diesel is slower burning so better chance.
I never bother with green wood but let it season for a while before bothering with it because it is always a problem to get it all to burn, always some bigger pieces that will not burn after fire goes out.
Old oil will speed up a fire that is already burning and help burn into the pile and help if you are fighting with green wood.
Tires work but they send up signals which can bring authorities to see you if you are in a fire controlled area.
We are supposed to get a permit before lighting any fires and I don't think they give permits for tires or oil. | |
