9' sickle mower, bar rake, vermeer f. You're in business for less than 5k. Oh, and a set of wrenches. As you expand, upgrade. But start with cheap. Paint doesn't make profit, especially on a small scale.
I've got a Vermeer Super J, a MacDon 16' hydraswing and a New Holland 256 rake put together the s last few years for $4100 total.
I've seen some cheap 16' hydraswings lately, most hobby farmers don't have the balls to pull one down a public road I guess? or they won't fit through the driveway or gates?
Depending on what you have for distance, buildings and loaders, a stacker could work nice for 20 acres of hay.
