KDD - 5/22/2020 09:27 Kooiker, FYI, that is exactly what the new electric drive planters from Deere do. We have one. We run it on an "older" 8420 tractor. it comes with a PTO generator that mounts on the tractor PTO. No hydraulic pump at all other than the tractor hydraulics. The PTO generator runs all the planter seed meter drives directly. Right now, the tractor hydraulics still power the vac motors and the seed tank blower, and of course the lift/fold/marker functions.

That sounds much more sensible than what their competition is doing.     From what I've seen at equipment shows both Precision and Kinze are going the hyd drive generator route.
