NEMO | We do it. I like it, you mitigate your risk everywhere and if you calibrate your yield monitor accurately you get some good data. The only problem I can see is if you split a tall corn with a short corn. Stine (fwiw) has seen significant yield differences from shading up to 30 ft away with just 4 inches of plant height. I'd imagine in the real world it's not that extreme, but I could see 10 inches or a foot affecting a few rows. The question then becomes do those taller rows (the ones doing the shading) yield more because they capture more sunlight? | |
