Buy an excavator with a thumb. Bigger is better and normally more for your money. Along with a root grapple for your skidsteer and a tree puller for the skidsteer.
Also as said above be very careful around trees. A branch or limb whipping back that is not seen or noticed can and will do a lot of harm.
