North Central Illinois | From past experience and knowledge your numbers are not realistic. A seed company is not going to leave that much meat on the bone for a dealer to make. It used to be 5% to 10% margin on corn was common and 3% to 5% on beans but admittedly that has been a while ago. I don't see how you could possibly be in a position to see documentation on a dealers actual income from his sales. If in fact you are privy to such information someone is doing something they shouldn't by letting you see it. I think we can all agree that seed costs are out of line but people like Coup and others have offered suggestions for much cheaper alternatives. It is our decision as producers whether or not to take those suggestions. I think you are doing every small seed dealer a disservice by posting this supposed documented information. Farmers are bad enough about busting balls, and now this will make a lot of them rag on their seed dealer about what a killing he is making. | |
