southeast Washington

rear main can be replaced without pulling engine not a bad job flywheel is the worst part

The only why to know is pull the side cover off and look and then you cannot see the low pack snap ring  keeper make sure it does not free wheel in low power shift going down hill if it does the low snap ring is off

Change coolant use 50 50 mix or distilled water and antifreeze and change filter should check with test strips

Put a dial indicator on the axle put it as close to the housing as possible if there is more than 20 thousands it needs to come apart I check mine every year It might need just some shims taken out and a new bolt always

there is a tool you will have to find and it is a special dial indicator 187 thousands on the injector start at #1 TDC marks are on the dampener pully and go through the firing order do the valves at the same time.

the bakes do that but look and make sure there are pads left

They smoke when there cold and should clean up after they are warm I have a 4880 that has over 21000 hour and still runs clean and no oil consumption never had it apart Do the over head first and clean the screen on the fuel line at the tank first. I like to give them a yearly does of essentialube a gal or more in the tank once a year does wonders good luck
