For clearing a 1/4 mile a plow on a truck would be faster and easier. But with your question a tractor with snowblower and/or loader would be better. I have not quite that far to go and more yard work and I like the skidsteer unless it gets really bad. I can use it to clean with an inch or 2 of steps and house and the kids like piles of snow which you do not get with a blower.
