I have an on farm meat store. I mostly raise corn fed beef but my customers also want pork. I sell pork mostly by the half or whole and beef buy the cut.
I buy my hogs from a younger guy who farrows around a dozen hogs. He has good feeder pigs and is very accommodating. I get a good price because I am willing to take feeders In The winter also.
I was able to expand my customer base by having hogs available also. I will probably start selling more pork by the cut, but it takes a lot of freezer room.

I water by hand every day in The winter because I don't have a winter waterer.

I am trying to build a reputation of having high quality meats at an affordable price. Pork is hard to be competitive as the grocery store but my customers are willing to pay for the quality I provide.

I make a few bucks for every hog but it's not gonna pay the mortgage.

I have been asked to raise goats, sheep and buffalo also, as well as grass fed beef. I have not ventured out that far yet.
