In college I had a 6.2 diesel and no plug in. Had a stretch for over a week it didn't get above -10 which was the cutoff point of it not starting. As long as it started every 6 hours and warmed up I was fine. The half mile walk to start it and shut it off sucked. Only missed once, fortunately it warmed up two days later, jumpstart and it was going.
