Central iowa | A couple years ago there was a wind industry man on a very popular iowa radio show. He frankly said the turbines don't make enough electricity to pay for there maintenance costs, let alone construction and eventual deconstruction costs. I remember watching a house floor debate on cspan a few years ago where a rep was saying electric rates would triple in 3 years. They probably have, it is just paid out of our income taxes instead of on power bill. I have also heard, don't remember the source, that most windmills erected in iowa are made in china? I hope that is incorrect and should research it. Can't image the shipping costs and we have windmill factory in central iowa.
edit. Maybe the wind industry has since got its costs under control. I know they have alot of major breakdowns, huge transmissions grenading, catching fire, throwing blades. Chinese parts? Guess anything is affordable when subsidized by the taxpayer.
