Near-north Ontario, French River | You make a great point about properly spec'ing a truck for intended job. Too many guys like to take a truck with a box van on the back, throw a lift underneath and swap in a dump box, then complain that the poor thing is gutless and useless in the field. One of the most reliable trucks I've ever been around was an old louiseville with 240hp cummins under the hood, 13 spd and 4 something rears. I chuckle when I hear you US guys claim you need 500hp to pull 1000 bu loads when that old Louiseville grossed 120k and would run 62mph all day long, no problem pulling out of a soft field either. Sure it would take a minute longer to get up to speed relative to the billy big rigs with 500hp, but they'd both get back to the yard at the same time at the end of the day. . |
