The guy that designed the R series cab. Why would they move the ignition switch from the steering column and put it down by your knees?
Because key switches should have never been put on a steering column in the first place.
What are your thoughts on why a key on the steering column is bad?
Many folks have to tilt up the column to exit, and tilt it down to drive, so over years the fatigued wires can and will fail, and will cause trouble. And usually cause intermittent fits before they fail completely.
If a piece of equipment has a nice spot to mount a switch stationary, IMO it is best. Think 1980s Peterbilt. :)
