Wheelersburg and Lancaster, Ohio | Mechanic in a factory? That's what I do to, kind of. However in my area there are so few people able and willing to work those of us that are really good at it get to set our own hours and, to a lesser extent, wages. My factory is a just in time supplier, so downtime is really bad for us. Also being a "mechanic" is probably limiting your opportunities too. Be the best trouble shooter, welder, electronic tech, electrician, and machinist they have and you won't be just a number anymore. I think my company has something like 70k employees and the top few maintenance technician through the company are pretty well known even at the corporate offices. |
