Subject: RE: Funniest thing at a grain elevator?

At an elevator about 10-15 years ago (before probing was common) they were dumping corn on a pile and always caught a sample (in a small pail) that the driver carried back to the scale house to get graded, anyways one guy was hauling in corn and it was testing dry however it was really wet corn, what he did was he had a pair of 5 gallon pails in his sleeper on the truck after leaving the pile he would dump his wet corn in one pail and refill with dry corn from the other pail for the scale house to sample,

This went on for a while until an elevator employ noticed when ever the farmer in question dumped on the pile there was no beez wings and very little dust blowing around compared to everyone else so when he wasn't watching one time he grabbed an additional sample and hand delivered to the scale house, when they caught him red handed he still had the pails in the sleeper on the truck,

I think the elevator ended up taking the guy to court for some kind of fraud charges, needless to say the elevator had a probe station setup the next year to prevent stuff like that, guy is well known for pulling crap like that and anyplace that he hauls gain to watches him like a hawk,

Also heard that at one time he was hauling sunflowers to a somewhat local processing plant, at this place they probe trailer and you pull ahead to dump and you will never see anyone just dump and go, and supposly he was putting gravel in the bottom of the trailer first and then filling with flowers.
