| Volume is converted to mass flow using weight. The Lexion yield monitor does require a test weight value. You can choose to remain with a default average test weight (56lbs corn, etc.) as a constant or you can manually change based upon changing conditions, variety, tillage type, etc., it's all preference really and is the difference between 1-3% error and 3-5% error. I make about four adjustments to test weight, on avg., per day. When looking at the data columns for the Lexion yield monitor, they are very much the same as Ag Leader. Their is a column produced for mass flow. At the end of the day, my per field bulk totals for yield and moisture, between each system, are typically within less than 1% of each other when running side-by-side and that should be good enough for anyone. I really do not concern myself with how a yield monitor acquires its results. I follow the instructions for operation and calibration and as long as the ending results are the most accurate estimations possible :-) When observing an interpolated yield map made from the Ag Leader and one from the Lexion, their yield / field trends are very very similar. | |
