Subject: Re: Calibrating Ag Leader yield monitors

There is no such thing as a short cut when accuracy is concerned. The calibration procedure within in the Ag Leader owner's manual is the only calibration procedure used to ensure the highest level of performance and accuracy (value). Any other attempt is simply a short cut devised for convenience sake only, limiting accuracy and ultimately causing frustration. Therefore, why spend a premium price for a yieldmonitoring system when all you are after are marginal results? Nothing frustrates me more than to listen to someone say "all they want are the yield and moisture trends." With just a little more effort you can fully capitalize on the value of your monitoring system and have better information! Yield monitoring/mapping requires additional time and effort beyond normal harvesting activity. For those willing to take the extra steps, they receive far greater value in the long run.
