Subject: RE: waseca strip till show

Driftless SW Wisconsin
York,

With all due respect, pure no till corn is not consistent enough to be economically viable in Minnesota's climate & soils.

Corn in MN needs some black soil to warm in the spring. Strip till is one way of providing a cleared, fertilized almost onventional soil environment in a strip where the seed will be planted rather than working the entire field.

Strip till has agronomic, economic and conservation advantages. Two major advantages to strip till is the potential for reductions in fertilizer requirements and fuel used to grow a crop. There are others.

As you go south in the US strip till is practiced for reasons. Strip till is not for all locations or operations, but it can be a very useful system.
