| I know this has been discussed before, but I don't think the part I question. In the past we have used a two wheel drive tractor to plant and so we couldn't plant end rows first due to the sliding of the front wheels. Well, dad traded for a mfwd to become the new planter tractor. We have a 12 row pull type planter, we turn on 24 rows. I know the tractor won't cause problems, but what about the outside planter tire pivoting in place as we turn?? If it is on top of a row, i feel like it will tear that seed out. i know ideally this should not happen, but it does with our operators (dad and I). Or was it more of an issue with the lack of turning ability with the front tires sliding, causing a more drastic turn than necessary? I have always wanted to Plant end rows first, but not a practical option with a 2 wheel drive.
Side note: planting corn on fall strips and no tilling soybeans.
