Ripley, Ontario Canada | I have a shorter growing season, and have some rather heavy clay soil. I am 2 miles from Lake Huron, so we have colder weather in the spring and the soil doesn't dry out well if it is not tilled. Also the clay gets hard when it drys, and if you are in at all to early and the soil is to damp when you plant it won't close, and the seed trench drys out. Here a lot of places we are working with 6 inches of topsoil and a short growing season. | |
