Subject: Re: new diesel pickup...which brand?

West Central Indiana
Duramax is nowhere near the quality of a Cummins. Cummins is by far the superior diesel engine on the market in just about every facet. They will last forever, are straight-up workhorses, and easy to work on. I am not sure about the fuel mileage on either engine so I cannot comment on that. Used to be that Dodge's trannies were no good. They have gotten significantly better. My neighbor has an 04 cummins and has never had a single tranny problem. (his truck is solely used for pulling trailers and farm work. Has 350,000+ miles.) GM uses the Allison tranny.... enough said there. All-in-all, I don't think you can possibly justify having a Duramax over a Cummins. Just my .02.

By the way, this is all coming from a Ford owner.
