WCMO-SWMO Area | You made some good points but coming on here and telling all the small farmers that they wont be around in 10 years made you no friends....In some areas all it takes to farm 500-1000 acres of crops is 3 pieces of equipment,tractor,planter and a drill...You can hire your spraying and combining done and will be able to do so 10 years from now...
Two of the wealthiest farmers in my area wouldnt even know what a spread sheet is....In fact I know for sure that one doesnt even own a computer but he does own over 2000 acres all paid for land....I will say that they are getting up in years..I farmed for years without a spread sheet and always knew where I stood..
I have no problem with humble BTO's but ones with an attitude get under my skin....A couple of years ago a BTO (very nice guy) told me that he would probably make just as much money farming 800-1000 acres of paid for land using older equipment....He said that farming nearly 4000 acres of mostly rented ground was getting to be a drag..
