We have several guys that run a Great Plains Turbo Till 30 degrees to the corn rows in the late fall. It helps decompose the stalks and they like how the beans combine in the fall. ( less stalks in guards) I'd try that before chopping and having the pieces blow away or float to the ditch in heavy rain.
Depends on your soil type and how early you can get in to plant. We need every dry day/condiction we can get to get our beans in. We usually get about 3 ideal days to no-till beans into heavy clay.
