The seeding rate trials I did were all on 13 1/3" rows. There is no doubt that "traditional" rates in many areas and with many different variety's were too high. In my little corner of the world, we have gone from 180 plants per square meter down to 90, with no yield penalty at all. The plants tiller much better and seem to compensate by sending up bigger heads that fill wider.
