We normally spot it in. A better stand than what is already there is no guarantee.
A few year ago we had a big field that 60% of the field had a good stand with the rest of the field at about a 20 to 60% stand. We drove the field following the rows spotting it in. In the areas that we replanted the planter killed half to 2/3 of what was there. None of the replant came up.
