I used to work as a production engineer at Hewlett Packard, and spent some time in the circuit board building department. Every computer circuit board went through a device called a wave solder machine to solder the components on, then we ran it through a water based washer to clean off the soldering flux. So water itself won't hurt most of the components. The important thing is to remove the battery immediately, because energized circuits and water can mean trouble. Also, if the water it fell into isn't clean (especially if it is ionic solution-salts), rinse the device thoroughly in distilled water. If you can open it up so that you can thoroughly wash it, that's even better. Leave it open until it dries, close it up, put the battery back in and everything should be good. A hair dryer blowing on it for an hour or so is good insurance while it is opened up. Just don't get it too close to the hair dryer so it doesn't get too hot.
