NS Canada | I keep good records, I think you'll also find that most that slip for some reason usually bounce back. I've only ever had the odd cow that was constantly a later breeder - For some reason they want to calve may/june, when the rest should be in april. Those you can cull, but it takes a few yrs to notice the pattern.
Take my last calver last yr for example, 6 yr old cow that calved:
April, 9, 10, 7, and then fell to june 30 last yr, (449 days) but bounced back to may 8 this yr (312 days), If I were to bet - she'll gain another month this year and be right back where she always was next spring. Why she fell back last yr is anyone guess, but a good cow over all. And her late calf hit the hot market this spring.
2 yrs ago my last one went from june 22 > may 24> apr 27 this yr. So they nearly always come back... a month at a time. | |
