Imo they are worth more as breds than opens. I will leave the bulls in for about 90 days, but the last couple years about 60 days into calving, I will take what hasn’t calved yet to the cow sale. A year or two of doing this and the late bred numbers really dwindle. Still a few but not near as many as used to be. Will keep back a few extra replacements to make up for these lost numbers.


+1, if you pull them at 45 days, and you have 20-25% open for some strange reason do you want to buy replacements that are in your window and may or may not stay there, better to have a 60-70 day window then be short of cows in this market IMO
