Subject: Feeding higher levels of milk replacer to bottle calves

Central Illinois
I’ve always mixed 10 oz powder with 2 quarts water just like the bag says. I’ve been to some calf raising meetings where they push feeding more milk and was just wondering what results guys have had with that. The numbers I’ve seen are pushing up to about 13.5 oz powder and feeding 12.5 to 13% solids. I’m trying to decide if the weight gain is enough to more than pay for the extra $20 per head in milk replacer or just trading dollars. I would guess my weaning weights to be around 180# at 7 weeks now, just based off of dry feed consumption.
