I always worked up to 5 pts and tapered off at 6 to 8 weeks. Some would hog down 2 to 4 ice cream buckets of sweet feed and many buckets of water before time to wean. Others were slow. When those got down to 2 pints a day they found the feed easier.

I always wondered if the 5th pt held back grain eatting, enough of them ate well so dont think so. Hay isnt important till after weaning. SOME will nibble fresh straw, which is okay
