Subject: Chopping cornstalks in long term notil

I used to chop cornstalks in the fall using a Brady flail chopper. Quit because the chopper died. I am thinking of going back to chopping to help reduce tire wear and to help the drill do a better job of seeding(I want to stay with the drill for various reasons). IIRC chopping also helped to reduce erosion because more of the soil was covered with pieces of stalk. The stalks rot fairly good now with the active soil microbes and using ammonium sulfate. This is a corn and soybean rotation. Any thoughts pro or con?
