Subject: Minorities in Ag

NC Iowa
I just want to say that people were wrong when they suggested that farmers in the boomer and genX age range would treat me differently when I showed up on their farm. I'm a salesman full-time and farm with my dad. I'm 35 and was adopted from South Korea at 6 months old.

The thing I find the most interesting is that if there's any comments made in regards to my race, it's from people younger than me. A group in a meeting a few months ago decided to laugh and try to whisper, "there's already one of your kind in here, we don't need another" when I walked behind them to get coffee.

This isn't meant to stir up any controversy or cause a riot but it's pretty obvious there are few minorities involved in the ag sales world and actually farming.

I think the best thing that could have happened to me was being adopted and the second best thing was growing up on a farm.

Thank you to all of those who don't see skin color and for those that do, sorry, not sorry.
