If you think the river is interesting, you really need to see Dry Falls and try to imagine what the river looked like during the last ice age.




I'll second Dry Falls, although for someone from ND, the whole Grand Coulee is going to be an interesting drive. The dam is about of an impressive thing as man has every built in my opinion. Keep in mind they shut down the tours in the winter, and you'll want to go on the tour. We were there on Halloween and it was the last tour of the season.

For some perspective, you can barely make out a grain elevator in the top of the picture of Dry Falls, and those aren't the largest cliffs you'll see. The dam is about a mile across the top. Not great pictures, it was a very overcast day for the desert.
