Paradise KS
no natty gas available here. Just propane. As efficient as our house is propane really isnt that much more expensive. Paid about 1.30 last fill up. Yesterday was in the mid teens to twentys. Cost about 3 dollars to keep the upstairs at 64 with the pellet stove not running. If we run the pellet stove 10 hours it uses about 30 lbs of pellets so roughly 3 dollars. With pellet stove running the furnace doesnt run near as much.

Ive considered replacing the pellet stove with a propane fireplace when we finish the basement, but where i would need to run the propane line would be kind of a pain, but doable. In the end it would probably be better off to do that.

This is a corn/pellet stove. Guy that had it before said he would run stright corn, but like you said it was a pain.

Really going forward i want to put of solar panels and go all electric, but the cost of the panels at this point is cost prohibitive.
