At 50 hours a week 40k is only $15.00 an hour, less than $11.00 at 70 hours in peak time. "Here" basic labor illegals get more than $11.00, a good solid steering wheel holder will need $15.00
Somebody with the skills and experience to do what you need can switch out of farming and make 80k to 100k easily.
