I read some of the replies, and just decided to quit reading them. A lot of callous replies, and it's no wonder some people are single.
If it were me, I would never have posted your situation here, knowing that it would be a feeding frenzy, mostly aimed against the wife, who in this case has no way to defend herself or her thought process.
I won't advise either way on whether to rent it or not. But it's never a good idea to force a person choose between parents and spouse. She can't win either way.
It's not a matter of life or death of a person, but could have either affect on a marriage. Of all the people on here, only YOU know yourself, your wife, her family dynamics, and your goals in life.
Therefore, think it over carefully, and choose wisely.
Again, apologies for being blunt.
