If it was me. I'd go talk to the landowner and ask for forgiveness later. Course I'm not married either. So far in life what seems to work best is, better to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I do admit though it is odd to not support you in doing this.
Go after your dreams and desires and dont let any of it stand in the way. And if you get it, You get it, and if you dont move on and keep your head up.
