Locally, I think I agree at this point.

Millions of acres were planted last week of April and first week of May and, due to cool soil temps, pollinated within a couple three days of each other. All that corn in the southern part of the main corn belt is screaming towards maturity, despite much of it looking great and being well watered and with decent chances of rain on the way.

I’m planning for good and hoping for excellent yields here as great as everything looks, but I will be shocked if the top end on our farm is anything close to last year.

On the flip side, there were some holes and imperfections last year where corn made it through the late April rain and wasn’t replanted, and things look more even and probably less N issues than last year.
