Better hope so, if these high low temps that weather guys have been talking about for July happen, it’ll be burning lots of sugar to cool down. But like you, I’m not an agronomist.

On a side note, I’m not foreseeing any short corn here this year. Was predicted for 1/4-1/2” last night, got 1.5-2” nice rain, but definitely didn’t need it. Big rains for me were 1/4” down to 5/100 for May and the first half of June, luckily plenty of profile moisture though and probably helped things root down. Since June 18th, My ground has ranged from 8-11” of rain, low area beans are yellowing and some dying (very little dying).

So, going into July, my crop is looking pretty good. Let’s see what July has in store for us. Late planting is pushing off pollination a while, tallest corn is head height right now, shortest is about waist. I normally just start seeing tassels around July 4-8, so I’m pushed off a while. If this late July cool down happens, that might be perfect for me.
