| Renewed my drivers license last week. Not a lot of trouble there.
In preparing for the "REAL" ID, I dug out what I THOUGHT was the original SS card, which I had in my filing cabinet for about 55 years.....saving it carefully for just such a need. Turned out, what I had was the original stub.....from which my original SS card was carefully torn off along the perforations......no matter that my STUB also showed the identical SS Number that the card, separated therefrom had shown......It WASN'T my original SS card. My Medicare card, which shows my SSN also does NOT work, even though it is issued by our government. So I came home empty handed, and will make another trip. The nice lady said my 1040 tax return would work or a 1099 form. ......so I'll try those along with my passport next time.
I serve on the county FSA committee......we're still awaiting orders from higher sources as to whether our offices will soon be requiring a "REAL" ID for entrance. After all, they ARE Federal offices. So it goes. showboat | |
