Below it was stated fringe would loose corn acres first but is this so?

Of course not. People have been saying that since 2013. For the first time since then I plan to plant nothing but corn next year. 2017 I planted about 94% of my acres to corn which was the highest ever. I probably lost about $50 per acre on the few acres of wheat I grew and I'm hoping to make more than $50/acre on the many acres of corn I'm growing this year.

When wheat is not far from the same price as corn and we can expect two to three times the yield on corn it's very difficult to grow wheat cheaply enough to make it competitive.
