Subject: RE: Mini Crop Tour - WC/SW Iowa and Yield

so the one state that was supposed to pull rank is going to come up pretty dang short of 2016

seems logical to assume this crop is sub 160 at this point

FWIW, what scouting I have done I am anticipating being about 15-20 under last year

heat just stole too many bushels, as most of my corn never lacked for water

corn is anywhere from dough to dent with a fair bit of nose back

only thing that does help is this cooler weather should pull kernel size up a bit. I was using 95-100K but thinking I can go down to 85-90 now. Last year was 75-80 with more kernels

again the heat just stole too many bushels

and if you can imagine this, the beans look good and are setting pods, and I am afraid the COOLER weather will ding them. I've about decided beans need rain in August and heat in September to make record yields. July they just need to grow.
