West Michigan | O.k. You can question my credibility. Traits take yield potential away. That is a fact. In many areas the bugs take away more than the traits so it is worth planting.
I have over a thousand acres of trait plots and side by sides. These are same hybrids with and without traits. I have never had the traits win yet. Have only had one where the traited hybrid yielded better but didn't pay for the extra dollars of the traited seed. All the hundreds of other plots and side by sides it never even yielded more let alone the extra seed cost.
Now remember I have very low bug pressure most years and the majority of it is coming off beans. I know many other areas have much higher bug pressure. | |
