Perhaps they have forward contracted a few times at a profitable price, only to have the cash price be much higher when they delivered on their contract? All I can say is, So what? Is anyone on here smart enough to get 100% of their crop sold at the high?? I'd rather doubt it. How is foward pricing a crop before it is grown any different than GM writing up a sales contract for a car that has not been built yet? Different industry, but same darn thing in my book. Is all about risk managment. Period. While it would be nice to constantly hit home runs, hitting singles will keep me in the game for another year and that's good enough for me. | |
