Tighten calving period to 45 days. Be prepared for a high cull rate. Make sure you use enough bull power- leasing bulls might be attractive. Maybe MGA as another suggested.

My feeling is you are wasting your money if you are going to creep feed then background. One or the other but not both.

Fall calving can be a nice compliment and can run the herds together most of the time- mostly managing where the bulls are.
