I know of guys who raised 120 bushel corn and got $1100 an acre GRIP payments in my county.
GRIP is the only way your scenario is possible where you would have made more with insurance than 230 bpa corn. And not many choose GRIP because it doesn't insure your own crop. I can't find the stats but I'd guess no more than 10-20% of crop insurance sold is GRIP.
