Penn Yan, NY | Do you seed all of your wheat and your triticale or just one, or the other?
We have a good market for triticale silage so starting next year we will be seeding our alfalfa into the triticale destined for chopping. These fields would have had rye grass or timothy mixed with the triticale in the fall, probably winter peas as well to boost protein.
That comes off mid may which should be early enough to prevent smothering. These fields also would have been carefully level picked and rolled after planting triticale so the mower will have no problems. | |
