southern MN | Only reason to fool around with it would be codes?
Fella bought a lot next to him in town with a wreck of a falling in house, put up a huge nice garage.
People wondered what he was up to?
Tore down the old house, and has a nice second garage for himself, and no neighbors like used to have....
His trick was good. No garages are allowed as new construction on an empty lot. If he had torn down the old house first, he wouldn't have gotten the garage permit....
Anyhow. If you have some code issues that allow the house converted to a garage but not let you build from scratch, or whatever, I understand it.
Otherwise, demolish and start from scratch!
