Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | Drainage is the key. Sounds like you already know that.
Have you looked in to styrofoam blocks filled with cement? If you go with a poured wall seal the outside of the wall. Also insulate the outside wall with an inch of styrofoam.
Would not hurt to still run a tile tube around base of the basement and out to drain. (Wish I had done that) It is a must to keep the area around the house as dry as you can. Have rain gutters that extend out at least 4-5'.
Yes, I have a lot of experience. Have had to re dig around basement to seal. Basement just leaked a few days ago after having it sealed 10 years ago after digging up patio to do that. Now there is a deck setting over the area. Have ruined carpet to show for it. Going to try to seal from the inside and we won't be putting carpet back in. Going to try to come up with something to apply to the cement floor so if we have another leak we can just mop it up and go on.
In the end, it is better to keep the water away from the wall instead of trying to keep water from coming in once it is there.
Add.....do not attach anything such as steps or have anything poured that is heavy attached to a basement wall. That will lead to loading of the wall and will eventually crack or buckle your wall.
